Aug 2, 2024 Shipping Update 

Dear customers, we are pleased to offer a streamlined hot weather shipping protocol.  

We will be shipping ALL orders with insulation and ice packs.  The prices calculated at checkout include cost of shipping and packaging materials.  We do not make money off of shipping charges. 

Current shipping options are limited to UPS only, given a number of disappointing delayed shipments with USPS.

UPS Ground is appropriate for the Bay Area only, as it typically only takes one day for shipments to arrive from San Rafael. We recommend orders outside of the Bay Area to utilize 2 Day shipping. If your destination has elevated high temps (90+), we STRONGLY recommend using UPS Next Day Air.  We cannot be liable for melted chocolates if you choose slower shipping options when warm weather is expected at your destination. 

Please note that shipping duration does NOT include processing time, which is currently averaging 3-4 days.  This means that if you place an order with Next Day Air, it may take our team several days to process and pack your order, but it will be sent via next day services.  The benefit of selecting the faster shipping rate is the reduced likelihood that the chocolates will melt in transit.  In event of unseasonably warm weather, we reserve the right to delay shipping by a few days until conditions are more favorable.

Our goal is to give the chocolates the best opportunity to arrive in perfect condition.

Please be sure to keep an eye on tracking information the day the chocolates are scheduled to arrive, so they do not sit on a porch or hot mailbox, which no amount of insulation can protect against. If this is a gift, please advise the recipient that chocolates are en route. While surprises are lovely, no one enjoys a surprise of melted chocolate!

We hate how shipping has gotten so expensive too, but be advised that this is just for summer, and that the price will come down as temperatures cool, when we are not reliant on styrofoam coolers to ensure safe delivery.

Finally, free local pickup at Tea on Piedmont  in Oakland and at the San Rafael kitchen are both options available to our customers, and we are continuing to look for other Bay Area pickup partners.  Please email info@formosachocolates.com if you know of a local business that might be a good fit!
