hot shipping info

Dear customers, extreme heat is forcing us to ship next day or 2nd day only UPS only at this time. We continually update our shipping options to offer you the best rates we can, while trying to optimize for weather. We do not profit from shipping charges - these are simply the rates we are able to obtain from UPS, plus cost of packaging and handling. All orders will be automatically be packed with ice packs and and a thermoreflective barrier, but for destinations where the average high is over 65 degrees, we strongly recommend addition of an insulated cooler.

Our goal is to give the chocolates the best opportunity to arrive in perfect condition.

Please be sure to keep an eye on tracking information the day the chocolates are scheduled to arrive, so they do not sit on a porch or hot mailbox, which no insulation can protect against. If this is a gift, please advise the recipient that chocolates are en route. While surprises are lovely, no one enjoys a surprise of melted chocolate.

The safest way to ship your chocolates outside of the Bay Area is via UPS Next Day Air services. We cannot be liable for melted chocolates if you choose slower shipping options when warm weather is expected at your destination.  If high temperatures are in the forecast, please pick a Next Day Air option.

Finally, please understand that the "shipping department" usually consists of just one woman (me!).  During peak seasons, processing time may be 1-2 days in addition to transit time.  We may also delay shipments during heat waves to ship on cooler days. We thank you for your patience and understanding. We will turn on USPS priority/UPS ground rates again when the weather cools in the fall.

Finally, free local pickup at Tea on Piedmont or Taiwan Bento remain an option.  We also are partnering with Pastel to offer delivery throughout the Bay Area.
